OK, one of my most favorite musicals. A story about miners building a small town during a gold rush. Then a Mormon comes into the town of no men with 2 wives. He is " encouraged " to give one up, and the town drunk (Lee Marvin) ends up with her. He and his partner ( Clint Eastwood) have always shared everything. Why not a wife? Comedy ensues as they work out logistics, and the gold running out. Christian settlers make them reasses the living arrangements. Now, the songs are not award winning. But they move the story along which is what they are supposed to do in a musical. The singing is not Broadway, but the acting (esp. Martin's) is so great it doesn't matter. The supporting cast all step up and enhance the story. My kids said they would not absolutely watch it. Then slowly they stuck their heads out the bedroom doors, down the hall, and into the living room. It is one of their favorites now too. It is just a good funny western that happens to be set to music. There are enough twists to make it unpredictable and very entertaining. Give it a try
